Chinese Restaurants: Latin Passions
I've been trolling the Asian American Film Festival site this past morning, getting ready for my 1 1/2 weeks of Asian film goodness. Yeah, I know that Cinequest is going on RIGHT now here is San Jose and I may catch a couple of flicks this weekend, but I'm going all out for my yellow-brethren film makers.
"Chinese Restaurants: Latin Passions" is a documentary about three Chinese restuarant owners in various South American countries. It looks like it could foster an interesting discussion of how Chinese-Latin-American life differs from the lives of Chinese Americans here in the states. What cultural shifts have they gone through? What has stayed the same? Are these shifts similar to those found in the Chinese American communities of the US?
Anyway, I'm going to see if I can make this one...it's up in SF only though but at least they have a Saturday screening.
